"The Unfunny Truth About ..." YTMNDs are relatively serious "investigation" slideshows. These presentations typically incorporate glowing text on a black background along with spooky music. The fad spawned from a Safety Not Guaranteed investigation as part of the AOTS contest and gained a wider audience after merging with the Scientology fad.
The title "The Unfunny Truth originated from the HL2: Episode Two: The Unfunny Truth ((MAJOR SPOILER)) fad. The Un-funny Truth About Scientology introduced the song "The Rise of Satan" that is most commonly used in these fad creations.
Some users title their YTMNDs "Un-funny" instead of "Unfunny." The "-" character makes them more difficult to find in a search.)
