"In Soviet Russia..." (AKA Russian Reversal) is adapted from the standup comedy of Russian-American comedian Yakov Smirnov, during his popularity in the 1980s.
The general form of the Soviet Russia joke is that the subject and objects of a statement are reversed, and “In Soviet Russia” or something equivalent, is added. For example:
In the US, you can catch a cold. In Soviet Russia, cold catches you!
Many fads have been incorporated into this fad, such as "Bike Stole My Nigga", instead of "Nigga Stole My Bike", and "You're The Dog Now Man!" as opposed to "You're The Man Now Dog," along with many others.
